Today I planned to get off work (remember that I work nights, so I get off at 7am) and go to the gym. I picked up my SIL (who watches my boys during the day for a little bit so I can get some sleep), brought her to my house, changed into my running clothes and went to the gym. I was feeling pretty good.

Heading out to the gym |
I hopped on the treadmill. I still have a little pain in my left leg, but I didn't think it was anything to worry about. I started it up and I immediately felt sharp pains. I tried running, but was unable to run...AT ALL. I finished out 1 mile to see if the pain would stop, but it didn't even let up. Not. A. Bit. It took me
15 minutes to complete 1 measly mile, and I was in terrible pain.

Crappy 15 minute mile |
Definitely not how I planned to start my morning, and not a good start to the Cupcake Marathon. Also, my 1st half marathon is in 11 days...and I'm hoping to be better by then.
I'm thinking that I won't run anymore this week...that I will skip my long run on Sunday, and just do a couple of 3 mile runs during next week to prep me for the half.
I got home from the gym, popped 2 Aleve and went to sleep. When I woke up a little while ago, I was feeling pretty good, no more limping and just a touch of pain.
Boo.

boo!!!! rest up woman, because i'm going to be cheering you on all the way from ny!!!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good course of action - no point in pushing yourself too hard before the race. Better to be slightly underprepared (although you've got some really good base mileage going) than hurt!
ReplyDeletePraying you feel better soon :-(
ReplyDeleteOh honey!!! That sounds awful. Just awful. But this I know - YOU WILL BE ABLE TO COMPLETE YOUR 1/2!!! YOU have it in you!!!
ReplyDeleteThoughts and prayers are with you, thanks for the follow!!!
:( Rest this week before your big run, I'm sure you will be able to do it!Remember the verse, I can do anything through Christ who strengthens me. -Philippians 4:13.
